Why LumiID

Fast Integration — REST APIs return clean JSON responses. Most integrations are live within minutes, not days. Enterprise Security — All communication is encrypted over HTTPS. Authentication is key-based, and data handling is aligned with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR). Built for Africa — LumiID is purpose-built infrastructure designed for African identity systems — NIN, BVN, CAC, TIN — rather than a global product retrofitted to local needs. Reliable — High-availability infrastructure designed for production workloads, with typical response latency under two seconds. Developer Friendly — Clear documentation, a predictable JSON envelope across all endpoints, a free Sandbox environment for testing, and consistent error codes make debugging straightforward.

Base URL

Both the Sandbox and Production environments share the same base URL. Your API key determines which environment your requests run against.
Always send requests over HTTPS. HTTP requests are not supported and will fail.

Standard Response Format

Every LumiID endpoint returns a consistent JSON envelope so your error-handling logic works the same way across all APIs. Successful response:
Failed response:
Check success first — if it is false, read error.code for the machine-readable reason and message for a human-readable explanation. A full list of error codes is available in the API Error Codes reference.
